I thought I was cured...
I have not purchased a vintage machine since last summer. I thought I had my addiction under control...
but yesterday DH and I were in an antique shop and he spotted a Centennial Featherweight. I had always wanted one built in my birth year, but had given up the idea since I was born in 1951 and they tended to be more expensive.
Both the machine and case are in what I consider to be pristine condition, way better than my other two. I tried to resist, but DH looked at the price, which was very reasonable for this area, and said, "I think you better get this one". He didn't have to say it twice to convince me.
Brought her home, plugged up and she sews beautifully! Very clean inside, but needs oiled/lubed before I sew with her again. She actually looks like she was rarely used. Now for a name and to start the addiction recovery all over again.
The same shop had a pretty little 99... And a domestic treadle... Sigh.
