I have always done the calculations myself it takes a few steps but I am usually accurate. I recently downloaded the Robert Kaufman app I double checked my calculations on my last couple of projects the numbers are incredibly close.
I use the app more when I'm out and don't have my calculations with me or when I get an idea and want to know how many cuts I can get out of a piece of fabric.
