I am with Dunster. When I first started quilting I bought 5" charm packs for the matched variety of fabrics as I was very unsure of how to pick fabrics and had no stash. But now I never use them and find selecting the fabrics half the fun of making a quilt. Plus the style of quilts I make now are not designed for precuts.
