If you don't want to use a chemical I have done this. Scratch the surface of the label and soak it in a sink or bathtub. It should come off in an hour or so. Peanut butter also works, leave it on all night.
These are my go to suggestions as well. If you have a place to soak the labels in water overnight, they should just peel off in the AM with no problem. Overly sticky goo, then try the peanut butter.
