I agree with Klue about the quilting design for the border. And the gold paper is wonderful stuff!!!
I would suggest marking the borders with the white
Sewline chalk pencil. They are amazing and so easy to use!! It looks like a mechanical pencil. My girlfriend has the white one and has let me try it and I have a yellow one. I haven't tried the red or blue chalk pencils but the white and yellow are so amazing it makes me want to get the other colors and never use anything else again! The lines stay but you can easily wash or erase them out. I have brushed them out but I tend to mark a bit hard when marking my lines and it's easier to simply wash them out when I wash the quilt after it's finished and I'm ready to block it.
