I love my old Singer treadle. Many of times I've sat in the candle light to finish a project during bad weather. And it is also good for your legs. I had to have in home physical therapy a few years ago and she recommended the treadle action. She was right. I was on my feet in half the time the Doc fore casted.

I have my great grandmother's oil lamp, and it throws light bright enough to read or sew without electricity. My more modern propane Coleman camp lantern does the same. Plus that, I've seen LED lights that work on solar power, so we COULD keep sewing with the power out for an extended time. Of course, if there is less heat, we need more quilts, right? See who is laughing then.
