Thanks to all for your responses! I finally got to the closest Brother dealer yesterday to test sew the Dreamweaver XE. I really liked the machine. It has so many positive and convenient features. There was only one disappointment: when piecing or even hemming it didn't feel solidly in my control. It felt a bit "soft." Another way to explain it is that the fabric didn't seem to be held firmly enough by the presser foot, and so it was not effortless to keep the seam going straight. As a result I looked for the pressure adjustment, but to my dismay it was already on 3 and could only be turned up to 4. This was a digital control as many of you know. I did turn it up but was not sure I even felt a difference in the sewing/feed. I was so sure this was the machine of my dreams, but now I'm having misgivings and second thoughts. Excellent stitching and straight feed are things I feel should not be compromised. Why are these so hard to come by with the newest machines? Has anyone else noticed this issue with the Brother V Series?
