If you're looking for a New England-type Baked Bean recipe, this is the one I've used for the last 40 years. Although the recipe calls for cooking the beans in the oven in a beanpot, you can also do them in a crockpot.

Maine Baked Beans

Pick over and wash
1 lb dry beans (Great Northern, Navy, or Pea)
Cover with cold water and soak overnight.

Mix
2 Tbsp sugar
few grains black pepper
1/2 tsp dry mustard
2 Tbsp molasses
Drain beans.
Stir together in beanpot with sugar mixture until all beans are coated with seasonings.

Add
about 2 1/2 C boiling water or enough to cover beans in pot

Wash in hot water and score by making gashes in it
1/2 lb salt pork
Place pork on top of beans.

Cover beanpot and bake at 250° for 8 hours.
Do not stir, but check occasionally to make sure beans are covered with boiling water at all times.

Remove cover during last hour so beans will brown on top.
