The shorter tip is needed by the Rotary machines. The VS machines call for the longer tip, but will work well with either one.

I haven't had the pleasure of hunting down obsolete needles for any of my machines. In post 33 above one needle tip is longer than the other but the rest looks the same. Would the shorter tip needle work in machines calling for the needle with the longer tip?
