I had a similar thing happen earlier this spring. It seems the louder the male woodpecker pecks on things, the better he is at attracting a mate. Anyway, this woodpecker learned that pecking on the metal furnace flue coming out of my roof made the most noise. :lol:
So, that's why they peck the metal flue! We had one do that to our flue for a few days. Thought it was his way of sharpening his beak. The rascal!!
