My Featherweight case had a very strong odor when I got it, although other than that it is in great shape. I tried several things including sunning it. Finally I placed several pieces of charcoal in a mesh bag and I think wadded up newspaper all inside and closed it up. Left that for several days and the smell was mainly gone.
You got a very good deal on your machine, I know I paid a premium price for mine. I hope you enjoy it!
