As I received a lot of replies about the little elephant I thought I'd let you know its a free pattern from "Bustle & Sew". Think I was directed to that site from here. She used hexagons which I'm not fond of so I made my own design for the fabric used. The body was checkerboard, eyes (which you can't see) are strips and the gusset on top is herringbone. Wanted to use up as much of the scraps as possible. Then I quilted in the ditch using my regular sewing machine. Found at Walmart the really soft cushiony stuffing to put inside and made the tail from pom-poms also found at Walmart. Decided against putting on eyes due to it going to a baby. Didn't want him to swallow them
