I have the first one, and it has been a workhorse for me. I've never had the instability problems others have mentioned. I have it on carpeting and haven't noticed any movement. I use it for basting quilts, too. I also bought the white cutting mat that fits the table. It's not a self-healing mat, but I couldn't find any other one at a reasonable price.
