If you use any kind of plastic food packaging for this, please take off one side of the bag. If you don't, it will hold moisture and bacteria and viruses will thrive in it even after washing and drying.

I made just a red white and blacks square with one side of a food packaging bag i as the middle of the little quilt sandwich for my grandson. He loved it, for the visual stimulation and the noise when he was playing with it. He has outgrown it now.

I have a friend who does the same thing but uses two washcloths instead of fabric sandwich

My son said that it makes a great cat toy, too.
