I also have a quilt that I am working on, with this same pattern of quilt blocks. My great grandmother taught me how to do the chicken scratch. The blocks I have on my quilt are different colors and some were done by great grandmother, my grandmother, and great Aunt and even my great uncle. Only one of them is still with us on this earth, so this quilt is very special to me. I have put them all together and I am hand quilting it with the help of my two daughters. This is a very simple technique, the hardest part is marking off the block. This is done best with the gingham fabric.
