I just picked my fabrics, decided on a common size (2 1/2 inches), cut four strips of each of my 21 fabrics (never do this again....an odd number makes the pressing of seams tricky, even numbers only from now on), sewed those together, and then cut strips of varying sizes and played with them on my design wall. Plus as I got each 1/4 done, I took a picture and asked the wonderful quilters on this board if my design should go up or down next.

And, I worried the whole time. I like what I did, but I won't do one without a pattern again. I simply couldn't find a pattern that matched what I sort of had in my head. I made my first Bargello about 5 months ago and am just hooked. I bought 3 more Bargello books from Amazon yesterday, and surely I will find a few patterns there that I like. This is my 5th Bargello, and I see many more in my future. I have only been quilting four years, but these quilts look so much more complicated than they are that I impress even myself...
