Talking Diagonal D4P Lap

I just had to make a full size quilt of this pattern! This is a very versatile block and I love the diagonal aspect. Anita's Arrowhead block is made the same way only with a different center and I love that pattern!

In putting this one together, I decided I wanted some light blocks in the center as a focal point and to sort of highlight the secondary patterns and then I just alternated diagonally the light rows with the dark rows. After that, the blocks' colors get to interplay with one another.

This quilt is not about color but contrast. A variety of contrasts is necessary. It's a great block for ugly fabrics as the print becomes less noticeable by the rearranging of pieces. A multicolor quilt is one of my favorites to do! You can put any colors in this one and it will work! Be sure and play with the many different layouts possible if you make it.
It's 48 blocks that finish @ 7"; a nice size lap @ 55x68. In case you missed my tut on making this block, here is the link:

Careful piecing will ensure a nice meeting of the seams and intersections. Other than that, it's a great block for scrappies and easy to do! Hope you are inspired to make one!
