I am so jazzed... I have been looking for a Fiddlebase VS2 for a while. I found several with the "Victorian" decal set, but I am not actually a fan of that one, but the "hand painted" flower series calls to me. This machine has some of the most intact decals i have ever seen.
This particular machine was listed previously and did not sell, probably because it was listed as pickup only.
I emailed the owner after the last auction to ask if they would consider listing just the head and be willing to ship that? They replied "Nope, I am disabled and cannot even lift it, it needs to be a pickup only" and they had already listed the full treadle machine again anyway....
I took one last look at the machine (kind of a goodbye to what might have been...) when I for the FIRST time actually LOOKED at the location for the pickup.... It was Jamestown NY. (MY HOME TOWN, where my folks still live!) Game ON!!!!
My Mom agreed to do the pickup and ship for me so I bid. My first bid Won!!!
so here is a portion of the listing text...
"Singer Treadle Sewing Machine. Well used. Works great. Property of Cora Fenton Bowers, niece of Governor Reuben Fenton of NY"
So, I have done some more research. Reuben Fenton was the Governor during the Civil War and for years afterwards. He was persuaded to run as a republican by Lincoln himself.
Here is HIS history

It is currently IN the Reuben Fenton museum now... It WILL be in MY Museum soon!!
