You can also use a tri recs star to make sashing stars. This adds a lot of interest to any quilting block design. The cornerstone is the center of the star and the tri recs block is the end of the sashing strips that adjoin the cornerstone. This is especially effective if the blocks are set on point.
Here's one with plain blocks, a tri recs sash and a square-in-square cornerstone. Simple way to highlight gorgeous fabric!
