Default Hello from Wellsboro, PA. New to the forum

Hello All,

I stumbled onto this forum because I'm currently restoring on old machine. Before I say which one...

Over the past few years I have been restoring old Woodworking equipment. The machines I restore I use in my own hobby shop. They were made in the 50's, and 60's and one from the 80's.

But just a couple of weeks ago my Wife visited her Brother in Virginia and came home with her Grandfather's leather patcher, an old Politype. I've done as much research as I can and determined that it's an early model, probably somewhere around 1870.

I have already started the restoration (even though I don't know very much about sewing machines). I'll post pictures somewhere on this forum.

So far I have completed the restoration of all the cast iron and bolts, screws and such for the base.

I also have freed up the sewing machine portion and figured out what the "controls" do.

Missing is the drive belt and needles. I do have the bobbin and everything else seems complete.

Well that's enough for now and I will let you know where I post the pictures.

BTW - I am planning on having this machine work even if we really don't use it.

Thanks and looking forward to picking your brains.
