I have continued my quilting lines through the border. It can be challenging though depending on how wide your borders are to keep a straight line at the proper angle. I have made templates that measured up into the blocks and through the border and marked my border to keep the lines in the proper perspective when I was using only reference points in the blocks to line up my quilting. I really like the look. I used the same color thread in the border that I did for the body of the quilt when I did this. If you use a different color thread as someone suggested it defeats the purpose of limiting the number of stops and starts.
