I sliced into the tip of my index finger with a garden shears when pruning some bushes when I was in junior high.
I've kept my distance from "dangerous" things since then. Never had a needle get me... knock on wood.
That said, I've somehow managed to get a really nasty "thump" from the needle bar and smashed an acrylic nail a few months ago.
