Ladies, thank you so very much for all your comments and advise, all is very much appreciated.
now that the quilt top is finished (not quilted yet), I think that both versions would be nice.
I went with the purple color and made it into 82 x 104" quilt, did not plan to make it so big but it will cover queen size bed very nicely.

Now I need to order some batting and decide how to quilt it (any suggestions here would also be appreciated)
