Agreed on finding a replacement screw.

Then some diagnosis is needed.

Check the connectors in the plug to make sure they are tight on the prongs in the machine.
Check the wires to the connectors in the plug.
Check the wire connections in the controller

If this does not fix the problem, then check the wiring inside the machine.

Considering the color of the new wire, brown or classic black is my choice.
