How large is this block? Do you want square blocks or do the entire quilt "grandmothers flower way"? If blocks I'd applique to white, if you are doing the entire quilt in hexagons than the white diamonds or white hexagons is the way to go in my honest opinion. In the end it is your quilt and you can so what strikes your fancy!
