If you want to miter the corners I would personally sew all the strips together, make them longer to allow for the miter, than sew them mitering the corners as you go. This would also work it you are adding a block to your corners. Just sew the strips together than figure out the lengths you need and add the block. There are many tutorials out there for doing either.
