I don't miter the corners of my quilts. I think it is more complicated than sewing the borders on one at a time. If this is your first quilt, you may want to go simple.
Just a though, and I am probably not average as I just finished my 74th quilt and still have no desire to miter the corners... I still count myself as an experienced beginner as I have been quilting four years.
