I moved from using blue painters tape to using pins as I found I needed to move the labeling around at times. I used a large package of Clover flower head pins, and numbered all the white ones (on the flattest side of the flower) with a black Sharpie fine point marker. I wrote each alphabet letter on the yellow ones. Orange are for double alphabet labeling. If I need to make notations, I use white embroidery floss thread bobbin cards and write my little notes then pin them through the holes onto the design wall. The notes end up being used more than once, and they don't curl or tear as easily as stick it notes. I store the cards, markers, and the pins in a small plastic organizer.
