It goes to show that a self serve retailer does not want to spend the $$ for the labor costs of a personal service department. Unless there is a continuous line at the cutting table, it is too expensive to have an associate just hanging out waiting for the next customer. Does not make good business sense. For any business.

Our Walmart brought the fabric dept back last year but it looks like the same fabric that they had before. Nothing new in regard to designs. Their notions aisle and craft area is very nice and they have patterns.

ladies, most full service quilt shops have clearance sale fabric areas. You can get some great fabric at deep discounts! I certainly understand that paying full retail for the latest designs does not make sense for charitable sewing but it can be done by shopping at the quilt shops. Sign up for their newsletters too. They tend to advertise sales esp. Around most holiday weekends and Super Bowl. just a thought

if you have a Ben Franklin, check to see if they nave a fabric dept.
