I would advise against using a single hole plate because one day you WILL forget to change it out when you do a zig zag stitch. Maybe you will only break a needle but why risk injuring your DSM. Just take a small piece of left over fabrics that we all have and use it to begin your stitching and then at the end of your stitching. You will also certainly save on thread.
