First of all, I want to say how thankful I am to everyone, for your participation in the FFC projects. It's each of you that have made this Challenge such a success and seen this thread would not have flourished with so many posts! You've each excelled with your creations and shown your many talents. Many times I was surprised and amazed at all the unique approaches you taken.

When I sent the FFC FQs out, I honestly had no clue what I would do with my FQ. Finally, I decided on the Siggie Blocks as a way to remember the FFC and have you be a part of my project. When I sent them, I had every expectation that I would do a table runner or topper. Then as they came back, and I started playing with them, it just seemed that a Trip Around The World layout would be so fitting, being that there had been twenty friends in six countries involved. So I adapted the TATW layout, to include the siggie blocks as well as a central Friendship Star made from the challenge fabric.

So what else could I name this quilt, but ... "Friends Around The World!"
It finished at 63"x51", using 3" finished blocks and will make for a nice lap or nap quilt size.

Some closer views ... The white was all outlined stitched, with some echo quilting for the star. Picking up from one of the phrases in the challenge fabric, "If friends were flowers I'd pick you", I decided on a small daisy meander to fill in the white background. Hand embroidery for the FFC2013 text. The dark HSTs edging to the white square were micro-stippled.

More quilting around all of the white siggie strips. You can also see the feather or shell like quilting which I did on all the blocks made from the green with roses fabric. There was no extra quilting done on the siggie blocks, and only SITD around the next layer of blocks, the pink background with leaves on. Same for further out in the TATW layout, where these two fabrics are repeated.

While you are here, please note
Granny_59's block with a tiny envelope complete with a letter that sits nicely inside. I have attached it with a thread, so it won.t get lost. How cute!

Keeping with the centre daisy meander on the white, I followed the same theme to fill in the rest of the TATW blocks.

The top thread was a grey Aurifil and a Sulky Blendable was used in the bobbin.
A look at the backside of the quilt ...

In the next post, I will show some close-ups of each of your siggie blocks!
Thanks for looking!!!
