The holes in the base that the rubber feet fit through are not the same on the base for the 401 and the base for the 500. I just sold 500 that the buyer wanted a case for. I measured and drilled a new hole for the 'misplaced' foot of the 500. The top clamps/ catches on the lip of the machine's bed and not the base. Interesting setup. The top on the wooden version weights a ton, this plastic version is very light
I must have the Canadian version of the case (to go with the 503J with the special Canadian patents. I've never seen anything different on this model vs a 503A...

The case in the photo basically sits up against the machine's bed from the bottom. The bed rests on it, and the case is a little loose, so the feet from the machine actually sit on the table.
