When I first started quilting I bought every different quilt magazine I could find on the newstands. It didn't take me long to decide which one I wanted to subscribe to. The ones I really liked are no longer in publication though. Right now I like Block. You may like Quilty by Mary Fons. It's a magazine geared toward beginners and it's a lot of fun. It's the only one my young adult DD will actually pick up and read through.

I use to belong to a batik fabric of the month. That was great to get a good stash of all different batiks. And don't forget to try different types and weights of thread too.
