I'll be interested to see what answers you get. I was going to do the same thing but didn't know the fabric needed to be treated.
Could you coat the photos with fabric medium (what you use to mix with acrylic paint to paint on fabric)?
I thought if you let the ink dry for 24-48 hours then ironed it, it would be permanent.
