I honestly don't know which Bernina's are mechanical. But I do know that my wife's 930 has electronic components in it for the voltage transformer and needle up system even though it is mechanical and not computerized. It does have a fuse in it too if I remember right.
That's why I said that.
Also unless a wire came lose or motor problem occurred I've not had a machine just quit suddenly. Even with a severe thread jam you'll hear the motor try to drive the machine.
