Well I learned something today. I have called these novelty prints too. I use them when I'm making something specific for a person who has that interest. For example I made mug rugs for my niece and nephew and they are runners so found fabric with running shoes. My husband is a car nut so his quilt has cars. The hunt for them can be fun. If I'm making something more in general the only way I'll use them is if the scrap is small enough you don't know what the theme is supposed to be.
