The 1030 and 1031 have a small circuit board in it and a fuse...I did not know this...I was told that it was a mechanical machine by a Bernina mechanic back when it was new. I wonder what the board runs? you dial the width and length and the stitch selector...the only think I can think of is that if you tap the controller with your heel it will bring the needle to up position.
