You got a spectacular deal! You will love that machine. I have one. Your table is much nicer than mine. Did you know that you can actually quilt on that machine (straight line quilting with or without decorative stitch) and still keep the regular zig zag foot on it?
The machine is not intuitive; you will need the manual. There are two ways to thread it. You can also use two needles. Don't force the center dials. Also, don't let it sit for a couple months without using it as the 401 is fussy about that and you might have to re-lube it if you do.
