I use chopsticks with cohesive wrap as a point turner.
To get a longer point turner I use a wooden dowel I
bought from WalMart in the craft section and cut it to
the length I needed (24-30") wrapped in the cohesive
bandage also.
The cohesive bandage helps you to keep a "grip" on the
stick.
