The later New Home machines when they merged with Free did take a "CC" or "CC1221" needle which is the equivalent of "Boye 2-1/2". Best to post a pic of the machine like you mentioned. Needles are high but there's a Youtube video for grinding down a 15x1 to work. For a $3-$4 per needle savings I'd do it.
