Please DON'T put thread/fabric scraps out for birds. It's a nice thought but the threads tangle little feet and necks, and the cotton fabrics don't dry quickly. I've rescued a few unfortunate victims who have lost toes and wingtips because the threads were too tough for Mama bird to snip free. Grasses are safer for nesting.
