You might be able to find a Voyager 17/Hinterberg frame setup in your area for under $3,000. It can also be purchased online from Hinterberg or another company (I'd have to look up the name) for about $4,000 -- although I don't know if that includes shipping. The Voyager is a stretched Singer that is no longer made, but it is a workhorse of a machine and these machines are routinely re-furbished and then re-sold. The Voyager needs the Hinterberg stretch frame, as it is a heavy machine and only the Hinty can handle its weight. (The machine moves easily, though, because the Hinty has a very good carriage.) This is a nice entry-level setup that I'm sure you would enjoy more than your current one.
