Oh dear, no intent to make anyone feel old!
That's why I put "vintage" in quotes! Though for all I know, the fabric could be from the 40's so it may be more "truly" vintage...
I'll give the fabric a good washing; for now I just had it separated. I think for many things, they are hardier than I give them credit for - I've worked with quilts dating to the 1850's and it's remarkable how things can hold up! Except in the case of silk... :P
