I love the Magic 8 method for HST if you are needing lots of HST's from the same two fabrics.

Before you cut up all of your good quilt fabric and start making them, be sure that you make one practice set of blocks. Trust me, it will save you the sanity of cutting out a ton of new blocks only to find out that you didn't stitch close enough to the drawn lines and now you have a ton of blocks that measure 2-1/4" instead of the 2-1/2" needed for your project and no extra fabric. While it does take extra time, add an additional 1/2" to the size of your initial two squares and square up each block after cut and pressed. You will be happy you did.
