I bought a travel iron, at a thrift shop, and didn't notice that there was something sticky on the soleplate until I went to use it. I tried every tip that I had ever heard of to get it off and nothing worked so I did a google search.

What DID work was sprinkling some salt on a brown paper bag and then ironing back and forth over the salt with a hot iron.
