I started buying sheets and duvet covers on sale to cut for backs. I also used a white duvet cover that my daughter no longer wanted to make her my favorite quilt. If you have an Ikea store near you I bought twin sheets there too. I read where some quilters look for vintage sheets for their backs.
I saw where Walmart has flat sheets, twin size, for $4.47. Their twin size is 66 inches x 96 inches, sounds like a lot of fabric. The label says cotton rich, 200 thread count.
