Homemade cherry kirsch. Fill a gallon jar with cherries. Pour in 2 cups of white sugar. Pour in a 26 ounce bottle of vodka. Stir then put the lid on. Let it sit for a few weeks until all the cherries have sunk. When this happens it's ready. Strain the cherries and place the kirsch in pretty bottles. I pit the strained cherries and make filling for black forest torte out of it.
