If you have the $$$, the space, the need, and it meets your expectations, buy it. Get it done.
MDF is sturdy, lighter weight and less expensive. Solid wood is very heavy and 3-4 times more expensive than MDF. I love the idea of wood but the expense, no. Not to mention moving it around, getting it up to the second floor, etc. I look on craigslist ,etc all the time and rarely run across a cabinet in decnt shape, etc. I scored one of those "older" tables from the early 90's that allows my machine to sit flush with the surface and I love it.(($80). It was well taken care of. I do want an airlift tho so I continue to dream, for now.
Enjoy your new cabinet and dont second guess your decision. Get sewing!
