Or you could just alternate them, one stem going up, the next block with the stem going down, rather than each row all going the same way. It would add more variety, and you can use the blocks you have. You could even turn some of the blocks on their side for even more variety in the look of the quilt.
Although I love the pattern, it is not on my list to make.
