It might probably be more correct to say a border CAN BE a place to rest your eyes...... Actually, appraisers will tell you that the more pieced borders a quilts has - if they are complimentary to the main body of the quilt - the more value the quilt may have.
I prefer the second view you have shown us because I feel it better reflects the design within the quilt. It's going to be quite wonderful when you finish!

I learn some new things from your post. I didn't know borders can add value to the quilt. I just like to try different borders. It's like frame a picture.
